Saving Money
We sold our plane tickets and brought this!! Might take a day longer. Hi All,
We are still having an awsome time- so much to see and do here!
We have had a busy and fun filled week! Starting off with a tour down to Cape Point, the most South westerly point of this huge continent. We started off at Hout's Bay where we did a short boat trip to see lots and lots of seals. Not hugely interesting and the smell was awful! But a great experience!
We next headed to Simon's Town! Simon's are very important in this area having starting wine making and many other things. We met some South African Penguins... Yes penguins! Not just any old penguins... Simon's Penguins!
We got on our bikes and cycled through the National Park to lunch... After fuel intake we headed to the point (UPHILL THE WHOLE WAY- STILL ON OUR BIKES!) Once there it was all worth it, the most amazing views! Open expanse of ocean as far as you could see!
From here we walked to the Cape of Good Hope, it was a great walk along the cliffs! Spotting some more wildlife! Baboons, Dassies, and Ostrich (They taste great! Catherine can't stop running every where!!)
Wednesday was spent at
My penguins
PPP Pick up a penguin in my town Camps Bay the best beach in South Africa (apparrently) It was hot but there was no cooling off in the water as it was freezing- 8 degrees! Brrr!
Thursday started with a glass of Champagne at one of the four wine estates we planned to visit! Yes you guessed it- a wine tour! Luckily we were not driving as we sampled some of the finest champagne at 10 in the morning! (It was going to be a messy day!)
Four vinyards and 25 wines later we both felt a little jaded! We took in some amazing views and we learnt a lot about the wines! I would reccomend the 2003 Beyerskloof pinotage!!! as your xmas beverage!!
We spent the last day of the week in Prison! On Robben Island- it was excellent trip and very interesting learning about this countries political past. The views back to the manland put into perspective how unique the city of Cape Town is!
Simon found his feminine side at the Kirstenbosh Botanical gardens! And we took a walking tour around one of the townships- it was a real eye opener! We meet some great people! We finished the day off at
Sam's Dassie
A Fat lazy animal that sun baths all day!! the Waterfront where I had too many blue cocktails! And sampled some of the local animal! Did I mention that Ostrich was amazing!
Sunday we spent relaxing untill we decided on our sunday afternoon stroll up Lions head, following a brisk 2km walk it turned in to a climb, up ladders with chains to climb up in parts. Even No Fear Putt was looking a bit white (whiter than normal!!) But with a bit more sweat we were greeted with the most amazing panoramic views of the entire area.
We head off to the Kruger National Park (with maleria tablets in hand) In the morning! Then its downunder to see those mental cousins of mine! Can't wait!
Will catch up with you Down under!
Lots of Love
Catherine and Simon
