Hello everybody!

How are you all doing? We hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving and that your Christmas/holiday plans are well underway.

Our Thanksgiving holiday was a lot of fun this year. Although we missed being home on this day, our evening was memorable nonetheless, and special in its own way. We spent Thanksgiving here in English Village, and we had dinner with at least 50 other teachers! It was nice because we created families and a nice "potluck" dinner to look forward to this holiday evening. Unfortunately, because it was a Thursday, we both had to work this day - myself from 10am - 6pm, and Larry from 1pm - 9pm - but it all worked out anyway. Larry had his dinner break for an hour, and so we did nearly an entire Thanksgiving dinner in that short time...so we could spend it together.

It was really great the way everything was set up for our meal. Some people generously volunteered to host the party, so that we could use their rooms - one for each of the 4 courses! There was an "Appetizer Room," a "Salad Room," a "Turkey/Side Dish Room," and finally, a "Dessert Room!" Unfortunately because Larry was so pressed for time, he did not make it to the "Dessert Room," but of course I saved him a big plate of different kinds of pie for when he finished work!

The next weekend we headed into Seoul with our friends Adam and Jessica to do some Christmas shopping! We hit up all the big city shopping areas, like Insadong and Myeong-Dong, and were very successful in finding the rest of our gifts for everyone in our families. We had to ship the box REALLY early this year, in order to keep postal costs to a minimum. In all honestly though, it was really nice to have all of our holiday shopping done so early!!

We also picked up our car this day! We got the car from our friend Stanton, who also happens to be the one who recruited both of us for this job. He is a very generous person and we were very excited to get behind the wheel of a car again...despite the fact that most S. Koreans drive like crazy maniacs! However, we didn't get too far this night. After driving for only about 3 or 4 blocks, something under the hood of the car made a really loud noise and so we stopped to check it out. Well, it was the alternator belt and it broke completely off! Needless to say we didn't get very far, and ended up staying in Seoul that night to wait for our car to be fixed in the morning! Since then, we've been driving the car for a few weeks now and we're happy to report that it's been running great! (P.S. - We named the car "Snowflake.")

The last part of this blog is the "No Clothes Party" that took place here at English Village a little while back. Since Larry and I both agreed that our college days of "Pimps & Hoes," "Naughty Schoolgirls," and foam parties have maturely come to an end, we didn't participate in this one. However, that didn't stop us from casually going to check out what other people were - or weren't - wearing! Larry and his friend Calvin, the voyeurs that they are, stayed at the party a little longer than I wanted to stay, but eventually we all ended up back at our friends' apartment, where we had some wine and good conversation. Wow...I think I just aged 10 years in writing that paragraph! Are we all getting old or what???

Well again, I hope everyone stays safe, healthy and happy over the holiday season, and that we hear how you're all doing very soon!

Love always,
Larry & Melanie

Korean for the Day: "Ch'ilmyonjogogi saryogo hanundeyo" - I'd like some turkey!

Always good to hear from you two, but I'd rather hear you in person. You know--- panty hose makes a great emergency fan belt so long as the pulleys have a groove.Have a very Merry Christmas. Love ya both. Dad
