Yay we made it, no missed flights. What a culture shock! This place is buzzing. Within five minutes of being here we were being asked to get in a tuk tuk (small open taxis that make the sound tuk tuk tuk, hence the name) We paid 10 Baht for a half hour journey, which is about 20p! The drivers speak hardly any english but hey ho! We got taken to a suit shop as the drivers get petrol if they bring custom, and one suit later we were out, Steve had a suit made just for him..and its lovely! The hotel is just something, 5 star for only 10 pound a night! Internet job! fantasic! Amanda had a massage every day, an hour for about a fiver! The pool, food, and people were top notch, we though the food would be expensive in the hotel, about a 3 pound each per night, with a glass of wine! Cant go wrong! 6 different resturants in the hotel, we only made two, one of which was a dim sum restaurant, hilarious, neither of us had ever had it, nor did we know we were eating shark fin and pigs stomach soup, dim sum basically just dumplings though realy, but nice, we found it funny that we both had never tried it and didnt know what it was! So along with thge nice hotel came the day activities, the first day we chilled, second day we took a trip to the floating market which was fabulous, so much to buy, great food stalls, but very very vey hot! The long boats that looked like gondolas were amazing, gave us a real taste of Thailand, we felt like we were in a James Bond Movie, great pics to show you all when we get back, ones we took whilst on the boat. Then came the Rose Gardens, gorgeous! We rode an elephant, see pics, Amanda sat on a baby elephants knee, he continued to kiss her non stop and ticke her with its inquisitive trunk, was just side splitting it was so funny. Then came the elephant show, seemed almost cruel, they were walking on logs, over people without stepping on the ( see pics) and even dancing which was too much! We also watched a Thailand Show and Amanda had a snake round her neck! See the picture,Steve wouldnt go near the thing, whose the brave one?! Was really soft and very hot even though you imagine them to be cold! That day was great and we had the Grand Palace to look forward to the next day.

So we took a tour to the palace, considering the weather we could only wear long trousers and tops that covered us, we have never been so hot, sweat dripping from every bodily crevice! YUKKK! But the place was just gobsmakking, Top to toe in gold, green and red, a story told on the walls around the whole palace, the king drew them and they involve demons and a story of the kimg winning back his queen. Very detailed with colours out of this universe. We saw the Emerald Buddha, the Royal Quarters that are surveilled by guards 24/7, very much like Buckingham palace, they are not allowed to move and only able to breathe, so of course we stood next to them for pics. We have so many photos of Bangkok, too many to put on the blog, so we look forward to showing you them. Of to Phuket now to stay in Patong! Bye all!

And to all of you that are aware of the ping pong shows in PatPong! Yes we did that too! Mother of Plops!

I AM SOOOOOOOOO JEALOUS!!!!!!!!
HELLO!!! I am incredibly jelaous of you both - not so much for seeing the ping pong show - did you get any pics of that????They'd be interesting to see! Thailand is the one place that I am desperate to go to. I don't think that I can bare to see those elephants like that and they look really sad in the pictures. A baby elephant should be with his mummy not with people sitting on his knee! But it sounded like he didn't mind having mandy there!!!! Did he have a big trunk???!!!!sorry low sense of humour! The pictures of the floating market don't even look real. Have you bought any fake handbags yet mand? They are the best quality of fakes in Thailand, I bet steve had to drag you away! I'd like the new lui bag if you have room in your backpack! Missing you both loads and can't wait for to come home xxxxxx ps. mandy you look fab, brown and v.slim. Steve I'm loving the skinhead xxxxxxxx

WOW
Hi guys, Amanda, I just got your email and have read through your adventures thus far (that's what happens when you hand in your notice, much more time on your hands! - I'm sorry, it's all been mad at work and have no internet at home). It all looks so fantastic - I'm so envious. Thailand is the one place I am desperate to visit - it just loooks amazing. Is there going to be any room for anything in the suitcases after the handbag purchases I ask?! Mother of plops, the snake - Amanda that smile looks somewhat strained I have to say! You both look fantastic - can't wait to hear about it all when you're back.xxxx
