It's Getting a Little Colder!

Well, everyone knows the middle of the country is in a deep freeze and it's even colder here in the north woods of Wisconsin. It got down to -14 degrees last night about 8:00 PM when we went to dinner at Brew's Pub in Land O' Lakes. The forecast high for the day was right around zero, so we thought we would ride in Wisconsin instead of Michigan because the trails are in the woods and twisty, which keeps you warmer. The pit stops are closer together in Wisconsin also.



We were going to ride with both Pat and Dawn Keefe and met them at a trail intersection about 7 miles southwest of town. The Frosty Club in Land O' Lakes groomed the trails again last night and they were nice and smooth. All of the clubs around here are doing a great job with almost all of them grooming nightly, making for great riding. We rode to the town of Sayner, a ride of 33 miles. We ate lunch at the Sayner Pub, one of our favorite pit stops up here. The food is very good and the Bloody Mary was real good too.



We then rode to another of our favorites, the Burnt Bridge tavern near the town of Conover. It was about another 35 mile ride from Sayner. It was time for a warm up for sure. It was -7 when we got there at about 3:00. We had about a 20 mile ride to get back to the Gateway and we split up with Pat & Dawn at the same intersection. By the time Michael and I got back, it was 14 below and the fire in the Gateway fireplace was a welcome sight. It's going down to about 22 below tonight, so I don't think we'll get an early start tomorrow. But, it actually got colder in Chicago last night. Something like -24!
