So, we are currently on a bus headed for the Iguazu Falls (destination: Foz de Iguazu) I must confess that before my 1st time in Brazil i had not heard of the falls. Anyway we are on a night bus which expected to take a meer 16 hrs.
Seeing as we have just completed our first month, I thought i would take this opportunity to provide a status report as to general morale in the camp, and perhaps also provide 1 or 2 observations (we are also extremely bored and only 2 hrs into the journey!)
The bus itself is relatively comfortable, although comfort is generally proportional to height (Fig 1). Curtains are provided throughout to assist with sleep, although i think also to shield from the horrendous driving that goes on.
We seem to have the reassuring habit of leaving somewhere when the rain kicks in.
Status report: - Books Read: 4
Gingers spotted: 7 (Numbers 4 and 6 may have been the same person - could not confirm. Stacey has had a number of strawberry blonde entries disqualified)
Maximum number of cheese and ham rolls eaten in one day by any one person: - 5 (James)
Max no. of caiparinhias consumed in one night: - 10 (Stacey-5 and James-5)
Hours spent travelling from location to location: - 61.5
Max no of mozzie bites at any one time: - 4 (Stacey)
General observations: - Sweeping is a major pastime in Brazil
Cyclists cycle the same direction as cars during the day, and then against the cars with no lights on at night.
Every coastal area has the "best beach in Brazil"
Every coastal area has the "best food in Brazil"
Top tip for Brazil: - Dont try and realign mud guard when traveling on a scooter at 60kph!!
