Hi,
I am arriving to Lima in the next few days and plan to spend a month or so traveling in Peru/Bolivia (any non-guide book suggestions would be appreciated) but I'd love to find some volunteer work starting in April. If you know of an orphanage or farm that you'd recommend let me know! (Hablo espanol tambien)
I also am an avid outdoor enthusiast so if you have any hiking suggestions that'd be awesome as well.

check out the website for Inti Wari Yassi, an animal sanctuary in Bolivia looking after rescued monkeys, large cats, birds etc.......real hands on stuff, we are heading there in May, the only requirement is that you stay for a minimum of 15 days but they don't charge you a heap of money for volunteering like some places as they are totally non-profit.....$150 per week per person read up on their website for details though, they have 2 locations in Bolivia...
cheers
michelle

This site lists many NO-FEE opportunities for volunteers in Central and South America.
Reply to this There is an interesting volunteer opportunity at the Fundación DELPIA which is a non-profit organization that works together with indigenous communities in the rainforest of the department of Cochabamba. They have been working for two years and started different projects. One of the most interesting is - in my opinion - the tourist program, where tourist go and live in the indigenous community for four days getting to know the everyday life of the people, learning to fish and hunt, to harvest yuca or coca and several other things. Other projects are the empowerment of indigenous populations that are endangered by coca farmers that intrude their land and several other projects related to nature and indigenous communities.
Check out their web site for more information: www.fundacion-delpia.org.
