Hay I am planning vacation in Kenya at 21/04/2008 for one month. I want to do some safari tracking, resting, eat good food, diving, parties and night life, and getting mixed a bit with the local. I think I will start from Mombasa and do all the coast. My budget is 2500$ I need your help for planning my vacation, nice hotels, recommended attraction in the area, if I looking there for hotels it be cheaper, where to do safari there, is it safe to travel alone.

Until the unrest there has settled, I would stay away from Kenya. I have a friend who lives there and according to him it is very bad.

Political tempers have cooled down. Indeed it is safe to travel.
Traveling alone sometimes becomes expensive because in most cases you don't share costs. From your budget if you wish to start in Mombasa you can spend 6 nights ($600 HB),then transfer to Nairobi (its nice to spice up your tour by traveling by the "lunatic train").From Nairobi you could have a 6 days safari covering Samburu N/P or Sweetwaters G/Re, Lake Nakuru N/P a minimum of 2 nights at the famous Masai Mara N/P and full day of excursions and city tours in Nairobi. In Nairobi you will enjoy great places like Karen Blixen Museum,Giraffe center,Carnivore restaurant (ideal for your departure day),Java house for coffee. All this might cost you about $1600.
This costing are that you will have personalized tour Not sharing.
A budget that involves sharing might be cheaper but most of the times turns out disappointing, conflict of interest might arise. Reply to this

Hallo! my name is Jeane and am in Kenya doing my holiday, the weather is really cool in Nairobi, and am staying at the Kotimungu apartment at Milimani which is 5 minutes walk from the city center,a very secure place.its a one bedroomed apartment and am paying 50dollars per night. its very cosy and comfortable i would say home away from home, you can also get home stay at very affordable rates, what i like about Kotimungu tours is that you get to see the real Kenya and they very cheap. Tomorrow am leaving for masai mara and i just cant wait, till then chao
