I'm flying to Ecuador but want to go to Colombia as well. Does anyone know if I will need a visa (I'm a British citizen) or a salida del pais to travel from Ecuador to Colombia or if there are border taxes or anything? Thanks

Sorry to side track but I am wondering about something. I always thought that it is unsafe to travel overland in Columbia. I thought foreigners have a high chance of being kidnapped if they wander outside the cities in Columbia??

Reply to this It's perhaps less safe than some places but generally, as long as you stick to certain places, it's fine. My friends did it last year no problem but we were all on cultural exchange visas and they had to have salidas. I just need to know if I need a separate visa this time.
Reply to this Thanks Kat 😊
My friend phoned the Columbian consulate to ask if it safe to go to Columbia a few years ago. They gave him a list of places he should not go to. There was hardly anyplace in Columbia which was not on the list. :D

Reply to this I think they need to cover their backs on a lot of things - if the situation with Ecuador clears up it will be fine. I know loads of people who have been without problems and I'll be travelling with Ecuadorians.
