My friend and I are going to Ecuador for about 2 to 3 weeks in July and I was wondering if anyone has any sort of recommendations as to where we should go. We are looking to go and have a good time and we aren\'t sure where we want to go. Any help would be great! Thanks!!
Reply to this Quito is great for nightlife and cultural attractions and of course is very near Mitad del Mundo (total tourist trap but it's necessary to get the photo straddling the equator line!) and you can also do a day trip to Volcan Cotapaxi. Cuenca is a gorgeous city, well worth a visit and very convienient to visit the Inca ruins at Ingapirca. Banos is a really great traveller-orientated place, good for horse trekking, rapelling, bridge-swinging etc. as well as a visit to the thermal baths. If you want to get away from everything then Laguna Quilatoa is absolutely gorgeous and well worth a visit. It is a bit out of the way but you can easily do a loop down from Quito to Cuenca to fit it in. Mindo (about two hours away from Quito) is another place good for white water rafting and other activities. Obviously there is also the Galapagos Islands or a jungle visit if you have enough time/money. I lived in Ecuador for six months last year and absolutely loved it! You'll have an amazing time whatever you do. Have a look at my blog if you want some ideas.
