UK to Senegal - Companions or Suggestions?

I'm getting short on time and was already short on money. This is a "just in case" inquiry:
Any of you headed from the UK to Senegal, or anywhere along the path? Any Europeans driving down ANY portion of this trip? Money's quite thin, so I'm looking for ways to cut costs.
Please reply ASAP, not later than the first week of January (after which I'll be leaving Glasgow whatever it takes). Thanks!
