A way to navigate the google cache when a website is down - website from Mark and Maria

Hi Ali,

I just wanted to take the opportunity to say thanks for all the hard work you did way back in August after the unfortunate loss of blog entries.

I thought you might like to know that this incident has inspired me to create my first ever website:

http://www.cached4you.com

I was frustrated with how difficult it was to use Google's cache to get all the pages we'd lost and thought "wouldn't it be nice if you could just browse around Google's cache and every link you clicked on was also a link to Google's cached version of it".

Well, basically that is what my new/first website does. You can now easily browse around our blog and not actually look at any of the text that is hosted on this site, but get all the text from google's cache. Try it out and if you've got any comments (yes, I know the site is a bit ugly. I'm not as good as Ali at site design), post them here and I'll take them onboard (remember the pages need to be in Google's cache for it to work).

Mark and Marias Great Adventure

Hopefully my site might be useful to you, if anything as unfortunate as this ever happens again.

Hi Mark - it's a nice functional website - hope you get some success with it - the next step is the long promotional road, talking about it in forums, handing out flyers, getting links from other related sites. Would have been useful back August!

Best way to promote your site is as a way to use websites that are down - due to updates, server failures etc. Reply to this
