Carrie,

My wife and I will be going there from Jan 4 to Jan 25 and we decided to visit: Lima, Ayacucho (because is the center of the most traditional artcraft of Perú and because is reputed for its good and interesting colonial atmosphere), Cuzco, Aguas Calientes, Machu Pichu, Valle (is obvius why), Trujillo (in the northern coast, there are some interesting old houses there and the impressive Chan Chan ruins, an entire preinca city that was the capital of the Moche empire), Cajamarca (northern Andes, because is known as the Cuzco of the north, but less touristy, and because there is the place were Atahualpa, the last Inca, was imprisioned and excecuted, and because it has some interesting steam bath over there), Chiclayo (further north, on the coast shore, because it has the best Museum of Perú, Tumbas Reales de Sipán, a complete enterratory of an important King of a preinca period), finally Iquitos (because seems very exotic and tropical, full of interesting animals and a complete different culture of the rest of the country). Well, we didn't go yet so I expect it will be good, I decided this itinerary by reading Frommer's Guide. Some places are not easy to reach (only by plane and from Lima). You have to consider that we left aside some interesting places as Ica and Puno (on the Titicaca Lake) because we have planned to travel to Bolivia and Northern Chile (both places near those locations) in other moment (we live in Argentina, so is not so far). Bye and good lack, please tell me something of your experiences (you will be there before than us) Reply to this
