Backpacking in Peru

I will be backpacking by myself through Peru, Chile, and Argentina for 3 months, starting in November. I arrive in Lima, November 14th and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for hostels that are worth staying at.

What is the best way to go about finding reputable hostels when you first arrive in a city or town. Reply to this

Hi Jennifer,

Welcome to TravelBlog.

I stayed at Loki (used to be Incahaus) in Miraflores. Good location, pretty quiet, good facilities and staff, would definitely go back. I booked a transfer from the airport through them and they sent one of their regular drivers. Booked one going back and got the same driver :-) Reply to this

Hi Jenny,

I stayed in Albergue Verde in Miraflores. A really nice place, not to big, good to meet people but not that mega party hostel thing. Reply to this

i stayed in loki in lima too...had a great time there! rooms are nice and clean, hot showers and a dvd room.

if you want to party at your hostel this place goes off well at weekends and you can pretty much always find someone at the bar at night!

miraflores is about the best area to stay in too! Reply to this

Hey Jenny,

I've done a lot of traveling in Argentina the past few months, and I've found most of my hostels at www.minihostels.com. They have hostels all over South America that are always really friendly and chill, and for $10 you can get a membership that gives you discounts at all of the hostels. Plus they also have some businesses like restaurants, language schools, and tours that you can get discounts with as well. Good luck and happy hostelling!

I went to Lima, Cusco, Machu Pichu among other places in Peru. I spent 20 days total down there.
It is such a nice country, the food was amazing and the culture is intriguing. Hope to go back soon!!!

By the way there are many HoSTELS in Miraflores!! check that.
