I am studing Spanish in Patagonia School, the school is excellent it is in Bariloche. Bariloche is a wonderful city, now is winter, is snowing. I am living in a homestay, friendly family who gave me an inisght into their culture and made me feel like I was part of Argentinian society. My friends says: Hostel is funny homestay is boring. What do you think? Reply to this

I would have to agree with you. I am just finishing my study abroad program in Valparaiso, and I think I definatly got more out of staying with a family then living in a hostel. My family really taught me about the Chilean culture, down to how to eat the bread! The hostel may have been funny, but I don't think you could really grasp the cultural, especially with being surrounded by more tourists then natives. Also when living with a host family, you might have host brothers or sisters that can tell you where to go for all the good fiestas! Reply to this

It´s really touch and go with homestays. I have had two this summer. The one in Bariloche was incredible- I really felt like part of the family, and my spanish improved a ton. In BsAs, it wasn´t that great. It was an older woman who takes in students for extra income and that´s about it. Reply to this

My last host family was excellent, but I had the same problem in Buenos Aires, my family needed the money I was a problem for them. Reply to this
