We are in Los Angeles right now and we are looking to go to anywhere in South America. We want to be there for 3.5 months and don't really care where we start. We are looking for any ideas about how to get to SA the cheapest way. I looked on expedia, orbitz, and travelocity and so far the cheapest has been $498/person. I was hoping for half that?!?! Am I crazy, or do I have other options? We can leave anytime after May 8. Do airlines still do standby tics, or last minute ticket sales?

Reply to this Are you looking for round trip tickets or one way? I think in both events your best chance is into Lima, Peru, but the price you have found sounds about normal for a round trip ticket to lima. You might also want to check out www.sta.com (if you are a student of any sort and under 25 yrs. old) Good luck if you haven't already left the states.
