Nairobi to Zanzibar - Night travel?

Does anyone know of any night buses or trains to get to Zanzibar?

I am going from Nairobi to Zanzibar for the longweekend so I am free all of Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I would like to maximize my time so does anyone know of any night buses that I can take on Thursday evening? The quickest bus I have seen is the scandanavian but it leaves during the day which would waste all of Friday and Sunday.

There are many buses that travel by night,but most of them are headed to Mombasa.
May be you could try connecting from Nairobi to Mombasa then from Mombasa to Zanzibar.
They are very flexible since you don't have to book in advance,just make sure you arrive early.

Hi kivsi! Thanks for the reply. I looked at the numbers and it looks like Mombasa is off the path to the point that I will end up at the same time in Dar es salaam with the day buses! Does anyone know about a very cheap airline? Cheapest I found was for around 300 USD. Reply to this
