need more time to travel but my passport extens in Januari 2012.
Hi.
We are traveling in South Amerika and we need more time for central America but my pasport is running out on January 2012. ( you need a pasport that is valid for more than 6 months to exit or enter a country)
Is there something I can do about this?

Reply to this I am not certain what passport you are travelling on (Dutch is my guess) but I know of no country that can extend a passport. I've heard of temporary passports which allow people to continue travelling until they return to their home country, but these are temporary replacements for loss of passport, and an application still needs to be made. You may need to apply for a new passport, but travelling to your nearest embassy may not be easy.

In about one or two weeks I am in Buenos Aires where I can find a dutch embassy and ask them directly.
it really sucks to short on your travel because of " the " six months, but it's my own blunder.
Reply to this 10 years life on a passport is not really 10 years anymore. Figure on 9 - 9.5 years depending on your travel plans.
Glad that you can get to Buenos Aires to change your passport, would be difficult if you were in the middle of the Amazon!
