How bad is the rain and flooding in Colombia?

We are planning a 16 day trip to Colombia in February 2011. I'm trying to figure out if we should postpone the trip due to the rainstorms and flooding in Colombia. If anyone is in Bogota, San Gil, or Cartagena and can comment on the road conditions, and general weather - it would be appreciated.

If we are interested in seeing Bogota, Medellin, San Gil/Buchamanga and Cartagena, how much time should we spend in each if we only have a total of 16 days? Reply to this

Hey!
How are you?

Well, always is difficult to give good advices, when you come from the country, because the point of view is so different!!
However , let me try...

Depends on wht do you want to do, wht kind of holidays would you preffer...
If you want to relax I would advice to spend more time in Cartagena(there are beaches, islands, party, shops, good carebean food, etc) , but if you like urban style, cultural things, good restaurants and museums..well..you should spend more time in Bogota.

You can see Medellin in one weekend (up to 4 days) is a nice city, but not so much to see.
San Gil/Bga-you can spend there 3 days. It would be enough.

you can visit this page, it has nice information about Colombia.

About rainstorms and flooding, well , it will be rainy maybe half year...but dont pay too much attention to this fact. For exmple in bogota, normally the rain comes almost every week...so this time you just should cross your fingers 😉) about flooding, you dont have to worry about, the urban areas in big cities are safe..this problem is mostly close to the rivers and countryside....

Good luck!
