I'm becoming a little addicted to this function! It very rarely throws up a REALLY decent picture but some of the "snapshots" that it regularly spits out are often hillarious!
I like to look at a picture without reading its tag and try and guess the location/country from the evidence provided!
Guess I've got too much time on my hands......
Reply to this Glad to hear of the addiction ;-)
The more people use it, the more photos will appear under people's 'Top Photos' link on their profile page.
Reply to this The function is a cool way of connecting travelblogers to other travelblogers through photos, I do wish there was a seperate option on a persons profile so you can rate individual photographers random pictures. An idea?

I use the photo rating function daily. It is a way for me to relax and unwind during my lunch break at work. It allows me to think about where we want to go on our next adventure. There are some great photographers who utilize this web site.
I like Scott's idea of being able to rate individual photographers. I think you can already to do that can't you. If you are reading an old blog and click on their photos-- a series of them comes up and the rating ability is there. Give it a try.
Reply to this Yea, I do read older blogs and rate photos that way, the random only option would be interesting as well, because you don't know what your going to get, you wouldn't necessarily be looking for photos to rate, but be shown photos that you might not normally consider taking a second glance at.

Reply to this Dave/Merry Jo - I think you're thinking of the one that gives you all the photos from that particular entry, as opposed to a random selection from that blogger's collection of entries.
Reply to this Exactally what I was getting at Jo!! 😊 It would be good good to see a random collection of a bloggers entire works.

Ah, yes, correct. I like Scott's idea of it being random.

I'm sure we all use different standards when rating the photos. For you, what makes you give the photo a 4 rating or 5? Lighting, composition?
Do you find that you rate landscapes higher than shots of people-- for example? Are you drawn to water photos over mountains?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Reply to this 1 - out of focus, blurred, badly exposed
2 - poorly exposed, unimaginatively framed, overly generic
3 - correctly exposed, adequately framed, decently composed, just lacking something
4 - perfectly exposed, great lighting, interesting composition, unique view of subject
5 - as for a 4 but with that extra "wow" factor
When rating the random photos I must admit to doling out loads of 2's with a few 1's and a couple more 3's thrown in. 4's and 5's especially are much rarer - better to go to highly rated photos for these!
Reply to this I often scroll through the random photos and highly rated too for similar reasons as above.
People certainly have different methods of rating photos and from my own personal rated photos some are completely unworthy of any rating but have received 4's and 5's.
More often that not I will look at pictures and that will lead me to read blogs which as was mentioned before I would not have found otherwise.
Reply to this I think an award should be given out for rating X number of photos .... it would get people to use the function more. Just my 2 cents worth.

Does every photo by this blogger deserve a rating of 5. I have yet to find one which doesn't. 😊
I am giving this one a 5.
I sometimes rate the photos on the 'rate 15 random photos' list. Sometimes, I look at the new blogs that are comming in, and rate a photo here and there on them. If I spot a blog with particularly good photos on it, I look through more of the blogs by that blogger and rate a lot of the photos on it.
Reply to this I give it a 5 too ... however I did rate some of his photos as 3's and 4's.
