Which country for a 5-day trip?

Can't decide which country to spend my 5-day holiday. I am looking to backpack, and would prefer to stay away from the city life. Options: a) Guatemala, b) Colombia, c) Nicaragua, d) Panama.

Hi fellow trekkers--my friends and I only have five days for a holiday in late May 2010. I am looking for specific locations that are rich in culture, scenery, and easy to move around in. I really do not want to rent a car either. I was thinking of Guatemala since I've been there once before, and still have yet to see San Pedro or climb Volcano Pacaya...but I have heard so many great things about Panama, Nicaragua, and Colombia too.

So, if you were me, and only had five days...which country would be ideal? Specific details of towns/villages/sites are welcome!!!

Many thanks,

Colombia is just fantastic, however it is also massive! You might struggle to cover much ground in 5 days and, in all honestly, many of the places you'd want to stay for 5 days!!

I'd go for one of the others. Reply to this
