I am still in the early planning stages, but I was wondering other people's opinions of my itinerary. I was thinking of flying into Bogota for say 4 nights...I will arrive the same day I leave..... (is that a reasonable amount of time for the city?? 3 whole days or do I need at least 1 or 2 more??) and then on to Lima, Peru via Lan airlines and then maybe one or two nights in Lima and on to Cusco (fly) on Sunday 14th Nov. and start my volunteer work on Monday 15th for 2 weeks M-F....it would end on Friday 26th (13 nights in Cusco for sure) and leave on Saturday 27th for Machu Picchu perhaps an overnight stay in Aguas Calientes (or elsewhere??) so I can go early on Sunday to climb H. Picchu. I am thinking of just doing the train/bus and not the Inca trail. Return to Cusco on Sunday evening and on Monday go...????I will have about 9-10 more nights left for the trip at that point....how long would it take to go by land to La Paz and then I could catch a flight back to Lima?? Or am i better off flying to la paz from Cusco via Lima? (I have checked and it is an option) Thanks in advance for any suggestions..... Reply to this

You would miss one of the misteries of our ancient cultures which is Nazca Lines. made by a culture far before Incas, the nazca built intriguing figures on the desert land that can only be seen by plane. Yeah... many cientists say that were made by extraterretres. Even, there is the figure of an astronaut betwen the multiple figures that are very, very large. Now, there are also the Palpa lines, close to Nazca that were made before the nazcas.
This is in Ica, just 4 hours south from Lima.
Or you would miss the Manu (close to Cusco) which is one of the best conservated spot of biodiversity in the world. It has few visitor. Fom years to come maybe it will be not the same.
Finally, there is Choquequirao in Cusco which is called the sacred sister of machu Picchu. But that is really adventure travel beacuse it has being discovered few years ago.
November is also very good for beaches in the north of Peru with a tropical climate, such a mancora and Punta Sal. Reply to this
