Where is the best beach resort in South America?

I don't know could anyone answer that question. The whole of South America is surrounded by great beaches. Countries of note would be Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Ecuador and north Peru
Punta del Este in Uruguay is the so called place for the rich and famous. The beaches north of that are meant to be better
Mar del Plata is the hot spot in Argentina

It depends on what you want to get out of it, but from my experience so far I would say Mancora in Peru. I have written a blog about it. It's super sunny, bohemian, great party feel, seafood in abundance, great surf, etc.

Great beaches are in Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil, it's all depend what you want and specially your budget.
The Pacific tend to have cold water, but better surf. For parties, Peru and Brazil do have great choices...and for food, Peru win for me. I'm heading to Venezuela next year....seems to have some very good diving also... Reply to this
