Hi

Could anyone give me some advice on the rio carnival and samba parade held at Sambadrome?

Should i buy tickets for the samba parade?
What region in Rio should i stay in.
What parties would you recommend going to?

Looks like this carnival is going to be an experience!!!

You'll be able to get tickets to the Sambadrome when you arrive in Rio and it won't be any more difficult than booking them before-hand and about the same price. Don't bother with the expensive seats for tourists, just grab any seats, the whole thing is amazing and there's plenty to see.

THe best Blocos I went to were one in Ipanema starting around the artists market on about the Thursday at Noon and went along the beach.

The other started at the northern end of Copacabana and went along Av Atlatica for a little bit the day after the Ipanema one.

Get sight seeing at Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer, Maracana Stadium etc done early, as partying all night and daytime blocco's means there isn't much time later in the week.

Stay in Ipanema or Copacabana, best places during the day and fairly close to the action while really safe, but make sure to get out to Lapa for a couple of nights where all the late night action really is. Reply to this
