I was in Kenya 10 years ago.

I would get a copy of the Lonely Planet guide to E. Africa. That gives tips on where to visit, money, safety, health.... for Kenya as well as some other E. African countries. It is available in most bookshops around the world for around 35 Euros and also on the internet.
