Having said that, I met foreigners who arrived at the various Ethiopian Airlines offices and booked a day or two in advance. Flights can be empty or full, depending on the different religious festivals, holidays or routes taken. For example, on one flight from Lalibela to Bahir Dar, there were only 4 passengers on a plane that would seat 50! However, flights between Bahir Dar to Addis Ababa were full. And hello to you Abiyu - Bahir Dar was my favourite city in Ethiopia! I'm now back from Ethiopia and can tell you that its very eassy to book internal flights from most major cities with just a few days notice (although flights to popular destinations are often busy).
