Where to go and what to do in Peru?
15 years ago, August 18th 2008 No: 1 Msg: #45915
Great site! First time poster. I'm planning a trip to Peru for 5 days next Feb/March with my wife. One thing we want to do for sure is the Inca Trails. Anything else you can suggest for us to do and visit? We obviously dont have a lot of time since we're visiting Chile and Argentina afterwards. What are the best ways to do this while keeping our budget in place. Reply to this

Hi Eggiewong,
Remember that to hike the Inca trail needs booking well in advance as there are some restrictions placed by the Peruvian government in order to protect the place.

As for what else to do in Peru....well, the list is HUGE...
Are you an archaeology lover?...
Do you like whitewater rafting?...
Do you prefer cities and history?...

To help you find some options, please check...

If you're in Peru by February, don't miss Puno and Fiesta de la Candelaria (), and of course, navigate lake Titicaca.

Wishing you the best.
Happy travels,
Daniel

Was five days a typo? As you'll need at least two, preferably 3 days in Cusco to acclimatize to the altitude before even attempting one of the trails, and anywhere between 3 and 8 more days depending on what trail you do, plus a whole day for Machu Picchu. Reply to this

Thanks for the replies guys. We like cites, history and anything thats interesting. As for outdoor activities, would love to but I think time is my biggest enemy.

Yes, 5 days is correct, though we can still change this. If we need to acclimatize to the altitude we're probably going to have to look into this a little further. Reply to this
