Reply to this Caroline Lodging (http://carolinelodging.blogspot.com/) is a nice, friendly hostel in Huaraz. It costs about 15 USD for a double room.
Huaraz is at high altitude so bring warm plenty of warm clothes, especially for the hikes when you will probably be camping at high altitude.
Reply to this Lima in June, July and August is always misty, foggy and grey and not really warm. Huaraz is usually okay, was there in august and every day perfect blue sky, not extreme warm because of the altitude of course. I stayed in Jo's Place, nice and friendly. Price i don't know anymore but not expensive, see http://www.josplacehuaraz.com
