Perito Moreno
After the glacier trek After 4 days of thrills, disappointments (weather), and a small bout of flu finally the day has come leave El Calafate. The first day of awe and the thrill of trecking on the Perito Morino was not in the least diminished by the incessant rain which tried it's best to dampen our spirits. If anything the only disappointment was the photos which would have been fantastic on a sunny day. As for my hosts Sergio and Cecilia ( who between them runs the Hostal Amancay) made me welcome and made me at ease and was there whenever I needed them (cups of boiling water for medicine). The place itself was clean but very basic.
In view of the worsening flu, on the second day, l decided to try my hand at my favourite past time. One of the better hotels had a 9 hole, par 3, golf course which boasted as the southern most golf course in the world. So, I just had to have a go. I must say it was different what I was used to, a lot easier than trudging Mountrath. It would be a pretty dangerous place if more than one team is playing as the fairways criss

in its glory, shame about the lighting crossed too often. I played only 9 holes. I would not recommend anybody to try the course as it was a disappontment. I just cant understand why there could not be a decent course as there was no shortage of land. Probably the maintenance was the factor.
Scouring the shelves in pharmacy I decided on a preparation of Paracetamol with psuedoefedrine and chlorofeneramine for the ailment. The plans to tour El Chaltern had to be cancelled as it would not be appropriate for me to sit with a bus full of people spreading the germs around. I spent the whole day in bed. I had to get better to travel in the plane next day. Fortunately the day of leaving I had improved so much (still under medication) that I had no qualms getting into a crowded plane. Again Aerolineas did not disappoint, The BA flight and the Iguazu flight were both on time.Took a bus to the Iguazu Park Hotel. Again they have a good system as the bus leave you in the H

The club house looks better small area near the lake to build the landing strip. The only road signs were regarding "animals crossing" and be aware. This is the rain forest area of Argentina and what a contrast from the Patagonian Wilderness and the rest of the pampas. It is humid here and at ~33ÂșC you tend to sweat a lot (almost reminding me of Kerala). The hotel wanted to be paid up front in cash, so, had to ead for the nearest cash machine. Again even the streets remind you of a third world country compared to tree lined streets of BA. All excited about the Iguazu falls tomorrow.
