Approaching San Pedro

Well back to Chile! Our passports are filling up quickly with all this jumping back and forth! We boarded a bus from Salta, Argentina and embarked on our journey over the Andes Mountains....a journey that should take 8 hrs approximately. Well our bus made it up the first ¨"hill" and then it died. We were stranded in the middle of the Andes for 2 hours while our new bus came to pick us up! The funny thing was that there were only 4 of us on the huge bus and 2 drivers. We waited and waited....threw rocks for fun and we all comiserated how the last 15 minutes of the movie "I am Legend" was not able to be seen because it kept skipping and getting stuck! To make matters worse, when our new bus arrived we were told it wasn´t able to cross the border into Chile (Even though the name on the bus was Andesmar Internacional)! So we got on our new bus for a few hours and had to again play the waiting game at the border. We switched buses again and arrived in San Pedro around 9....a full 15 hours to get there! it. San Pedro is in the middle of the Atacama Desert...the driest desert in the world. And there are tons of activities to do here. All the streets are dirt or sand, and the building look like adobe structures. We camped here again, and ran into a French couple we had met a little over a month ago in Argentina. We had an absolute blast here!
