On our way to Uruguay
I know you maybe thinking this is an overload of stories but i am really trying to catch up with myself. Hope you are enjoying them. I do find that the sooner i can write the story to when it happened the funnier i can make it. Funny, i do try.
So we made to Punto Del Dialbo which is a very hippy point along the coast of Uruguay. Further south is Punto Del Este and thats where the snobs go supposidly so we stayed clear of any unnatural posing and went for hairy and natural. Which we got and alot more. We stayed in a campsite 2k from the village which was a bit shit cause it is along walk in the hot hot sun. Not complaining! So we walked in to town and it is such a cool little place, but hot!. There is no tarmac only sandy tracks and the houses, well some are, but others are shacks and there was certainly no town planning here. It was of all sorts of colors and shapes. There were fishing boats on the beach. The water was crystal clear and the people friendly. Thats one of the main things i
found about the Uruguayian people was that they are so nice, friendly and helpful. Even in Montevideo(city) they were helpful.
Our first mission was to find fuel. This time the right stuff and we had success. We managed to cook dinner without it looking like we were burning tyres. Tina and Andy arrived later that evening and they were still hungover so they had an early night.
Next morning we went for a swim. They were only filling the pool but we splashed around. We had breakfast and did all our landry. Handwashed if you don't mind but it got it clean. We decided we would check out the natural reserve in the area so we headed off down the beach towards it. On the way we say a dead eel being eaten by a seagul and then a dead seal. Not much living wildlife i hear you say! I know! So we walked for hours and hours and hours and hours! there was a botanical gardens which was nice but after that it was pretty boring and getting late and we had to walk for hours and hours... you get the picture. It was getting dark, it had started
to rain and we were so far from the campsite. But we kept ours spirits high, came across another dead seal, great, and eventually we made it back to the campsite.
Oh i forgot to mention, we lost our penknife and so we tried to look for it by asking around. They thought we wanted to by one but they didn't have it in red! NO, No we lost ours and it is red! So when we came back from the long walk the young guy at the campsite said somebody had it over in that house, It was all very confusing and well in the end there was no penknife. Very sad!
So it was an early night cause my legs were dead with a little bit of extra burning on my body.
Christmas eve!Weird! Breakfast consisted of stale bread and a very sweet paste called Dulce de Lecke which is caramel. Not good for the teeth but got us started. I think we also had a cup of pumkin soup. NICE!
After that we went into town to do some surfing. It was a disaster. I was so disapponted. they waves were crazy and the current
was strong so all i managed to do was smack myself in the head with my board and then sit on the beach looking at Joost getting wipped out instead.
We met up with Tina and Andy and we had chritmas eve dinner of pizza and bears which was nice. Then got a taxi back to the campsite and a few more bearsa and a argentinian guy playing the guitar and then off to bed. Happy Christmas. Breakfast about then same as before. A swim in the pool which is still not full but there was a centipede. Lovely! I think it was dead, didn't check, just swam away from it. It was a weird chritmas as it didn't feel like it at all, Made my calls home which was nice, especially to hear they had such a tasty christmas dinner and of course the great news of the future grandchild! Dinner didn´t consist of anything to gourmet at our tent but hey it didn't matter we are having a great time and next year we will eat twice as much! We really like it there in Punto Del Diablo but we must move on there is soooo much to
see and do, so we bought out tickets out of there and started our trip to Bariloche, Argentina
Till next time xxxxx
