Apparently it´s never normally this hot at this time of the year - I´m guessing it´s around 30 degrees, which is kind of perfect really! There don´t seem to be many specific landmarks or historical buildings to visit in Montevideo but it´s a nice place to be because the vibe is very friendly and laid back. La Rambla is the city´s main drag along the coastline. It´s lovely - and reminds me of part of Cape Town. I can´t quite believe it´s a capital city but then Uruguay is pretty small and only just over a million people live in Montevideo.

Send lots of love to Maria
It is lovely to get your diary updates, although it seems very strange to be sitting in the middle of the Dorset countrtyside thinking about you galivanting around Montevideo. Please tell Maria her handbag is much admired in Dorset (although I think they think it has fallen in a cowpat!) Take care but have very good fun - and do keep up the diary. It is really nice to get the updates. Lots of love Emily
