Say Pisco Sour!
We woke early in the morning for our trip to Ballestas Islands (poor mans Galapagos). The tour was late due to a lot of fog on the ocean but we finally left around the 10 mark. It was worth the wait, we got to see lots of birds, penguins, sea lions and there was a lot of guano (bird shit). There was also 2 dolphin on the way to the island but I was the only one that seen them so I’m not sure it was my imagination!

Arrived back on land and headed of in the bus again. About 1 hour down the road we stopped in a winery where they make pisco. They showed you how it was made and afterwards we all had some tasting - by the way the pisco is really strong!! And drinking on an empty stomach isn't the best idea ;-)

Had a lovely lunch there and jumped back on the bus again. About another hour or two down the road we stopped again. This time it was for sand bugging and sand boarding. I think I can speak for the rest of the group when I say it was one of

I HAVE been told i look like Mel Gison but.....
the best experiences we had. The buggies were quite large, 6 people to a buggy, and when we were loaded up we headed into the desert. Screams, laughing and on occasion bad language (mainly Natalie!) were heard for miles (if there was anyone in the desert to hear them). It was brilliant. There was 2 buggies carrying everyone and after about 30 minutes we stopped to do some sand boarding. I didn’t really know what to expect. I thought it would be like snow boarding - going down a slope standing on the board but it was much easier than that. You didn’t even have to be awake to do it! Basically we pulled up to a fairly steep slope, jumped out, waxed the board and laid it at the top of the slope, lay down head first on the board (spread your legs was said many times) and hoped for the best as the guide pushed you over the edge. By the time you reached the end you were looking forward to going again. We did this a number of times, each slope getting bigger and bigger, while having a competion to see who could get the furthest. It

was great fun and I think everyone have a great time.

Back on the bus to head to Nazca and have a good nights rest - with plenty of pisco sours and cervesas (beers).
