Up we go again: to Huaraz
So onwards we drove from Lima and it was again another trip up to altitude to visit the city of Huaraz. The journey was pretty long and very bendy and unfortuantly it was raining and overcast so we didn´t get to appreciate much of the views either. We eventually arrive in Huaraz however to another cute little hotel where we got divided into our rooms and I was with two other girls but in a bedroom with five beds so we weren´t complaining! The hotel also had a tv room with lots of dvds which I made full use of especially as most of my time spent in this city involved me being ill with a stomach bug! The city itself has quite a lot to do for the adventurous traveller and is renowned for climbing and the various walks it provides. However, for me the two days spent there involved spending time at the most gorgeous cafe ever called Cafe Andino which had amazing food as well as a library and board games and spending time watching tv and dvds in the hotel. If anyone hasn´t seen Juno yet I highly recommend it,

One of our many crazy photo shoots! its an amazing film! Jumper not so much though. It was then time to leave altitude again, at least until Ecuador and to head towards the beaches of Northern Peru. First stop, Huanchaco.
Beach number 1: Huanchaco
So back down we go to sea level and we arrrive at our first beach destination in the town of Huanchaco. We arrived at about 5pm and set up our tents in this tiny little garden where we were suprised we even fitted and then had a good spag bol dinner and a chilled out evening around a campfire with marshmellows. The following day, after an amazing cooked brekkie, it was down to the beach for an hour or two of sunbathing but then the sun got just too hot so we went and found a cafe somewhere to chill out before having some internet time. I was then convinced by some girls to go down to do some photo shots on the beach and park. So after about an hour of messing around taking photos I went back to the campsite, had a shower and chilled out for the evening. We also had for dinner a dish called Chicken Pamejanas
The Beach
Punta Sal which the Aussies claim to be one of their national dishes and although it was amazing, it was essentially chicken schnitzel with ham and cheese on top covered in a Napolitana sauce! We then had another night around the campfire listening to music before heading off to bed and to pack to leave again the next day to our second beach location: Punta Sal.
Beach number 2: Punta Sal
Early start again for another long drive day (about 10 hours) up the coastline of Peru to a beach called Punta Sal. It was one of the hottest drive days ever and we stopped for lunch in the desert and almost melted, especially as it was my groups cook day! We eventually arrived at Punta Sal in the dark which is always fun for putting tents up (especially on sand!) and we then had a buffet dinner provided for us which made everyone annoyed at my group even more as we have now gone 9 weeks without cooking a single evening meal. It isn´t our fault though that our cooking days fall on days when we go out etc. Plus my group always gets the worst cleaning days! The
evening was then spent watching people playing beach volleyball and thinking up ideas for once it reached midnight and would be April Fools Day. Though once midnight came we didn´t enforce any of our ideas, most likely because we were afraid of the reprecussions! We also spent the evening playing with possibly the cutest dog ever, a little puppy that looked the spitting image of an Ewok from Star Wars, so naturally we called him ewok!!
The next two days were spent as if on a beach holiday; doing nothing! I would sunbathe for a bit, go in the sea for a bit, though not too long as the sea and I had a fall out when it decided to steal my sunglasses through the means of a big wave. I would then go to the restaurant area which was in the shade and which we took over as a chill out area to write my diary and read etc. Watch on both days the Champions League matches and generally just chilled. It was all so very good, though also so very hot! Both the evenings we had BBQ which were great and we enjoyed watching loads and loads
Ewok!
The cutest dog ever that looks like an ewok! of volleyball matches, mostly southern hemisphere vs. northern hemisphere and the north won which was a shock! Though I think we won mainly because we had Joss and Milton who are amazing at sport and because most of the Aussies and Kiwis were too drunk (the people who were not playing kept running on everytime there was a break to give the people playing a drink, the only problem being that everyone was drinking Sangria!). All in all though, Punta Sal was an amazing place, a huge beach that was essentially only used by us and some creepy guys who came only to try and steal our stuff. But luckily the boys on our trip got very overprotective and followed them everywhere until they decided to leave!
So the following day was thus the day that we left Peru for good after a long 30 days there and we were to enter Ecuador, our final country stop in South America. We also left our last beach location, which although sad, I was ready to leave due to everything I owned, including my own body being covered in sand! I have loved Peru though and we´ve had a great time
Ewok again
Becasue he was just too cute in this beautiful country but I think by this point we were already to leave it behind.
