Date of trip: July 2002 So, after finishing grad school I had yet to travel outside the U.S. (except for Canada) so why not start with Peru. What could beat a 4 day hike to Machu Picchu! The views were amazing as we watched the sunlight rise over the mountains to illuminate Machu Picchu

The mountains were verdant green--amazing! That is the Urubamaba River below. Had the best trout I've ever had out of there on the trek!
