Well we are having an amazing time in Peru. Since we last sent you all a blog we have done so much!!

We left Nasca and headed to Puerto Inca a tiny little cove on the beach. We all camped here for the night and spent the afternoon playing volleyball, drinking beer and exploring the inca ruins that surround the cove. The boys even played football with the locals (Gringos 9, locals 6!! result!!) Mike even ventured into the sea (nutter!!!!) That evening we had a bin bag party where we all made costumes out of bin liners (I was Super girl -cape, shorts etc mike was a wasps player - josh lewsey to be precise!)

We then left for arequipa a beautiful city - the second largest after lima. We camped here for two nights and explored the town. We went to the "Juanita" museum. It contains the exceptionally well preserved remains of an Inca girl who was sacrificed to the Gods on one of the surrounding volcanos. It was really interesting but alittle odd. She was tiny and you could see all her hair and skin. We all went out for dinner and mike had guinea pig

Lots of pisco sour later...........
(lots of bones - tasted good) and also tried some al-paca (a small Lama- tough and salty abit like beef)

After two days in Arequipa we headed off in the truck to Colca Canyon (deeper than the grand canyon) in search of Condors. We had a guide from Arequipa and drove 6 hours to the canyon. On the way we stopped at the highest point of the trip so far 4910m. Many people felt the affects of the altitude and lack of oxygen - dizziness, breathlessness etc. When we arrived in Colca Canyon we had lunch then headed out on a walk to spot condors. We saw quite a few flying on the early afternoon termals. The scenery and views were amazing.(See photos!) After that we headed to Chivay a tiny town to visit the hot springs and spend the night. 13 of us headed to the hot springs at about 8pm. The hot water was amazing. We had some trouble getting back - no taxis in darkest Peru and locals offering us a lift - errr no thanks!!!! The guy from the springs told us "DonĀ“t worry, it is a full moon, perfectly safe!!" Hmmmmmmm. So we walked

the 4km down the pitch black country road together. Was alittle unnerving!!

From Chivay we headed to Cusco - capital of the Incas ( 12hrs in the truck!) We had a relaxation day to prepare for our inca trail. We went to the highest Irish bar in the world (just for you sean!!) and then clubbing in "mama africas" much fun!!
