Hi all. Well we´re now just over a week into our travels and i´m loving it. Since the overland trip has begun we have done so much. A lot of travelling in our big truck involved but its all good fun. All the people on our trip are lovely. It was strange at first as everyone knew each other as they all started 10 days earlier in Quito. I said it felt like entering the big brother house as one of the new-comers half way through the series. At the moment were in Arequipa, at 2000m altitude. Lovely town (although it may be a city) Really quaint buildings. We have been to the convent today which was good. Its a little cloudy today which is good for me as i got badly burnt the first day in Lima as we went for a walk and got lost in the blazing sun...really bad application of the sun lotion! On tuesday when the trip began we went to Paracas National Park and got the chance to sit on the roof top seats of Cindy (thats the name of our truck). Camped on the beach that night...fab sunset although the roar of the ocean

it tastes like iron bru but it is very popular here in Peru!
meant little sleep was had. The next morning we went ot Ballesteas Islands and saw dolphins, penguins, birds, sealions which was really good. Got a little snap happy. Then that afternoon went sand boarding (Claire you´ll be jealous) it was ace and i managed to stay up for a little bit..the ride in the sand bugging was fantastic, like a never ending rollercoaster. Then it was off to nazca to see the lines. I passed on the plane ride...save my self for one over iggassu falls. Long coach ride yesterday and arrived yesterday evening here. Leave tommorrow for Chivay via the colca canyon. Then its Cusco and the Inca trail starts on Wednesday!!! We´ve been doing ínca training´on the truck everyday...step ups. Even though there´s long drives its fine as we stop regulary and all dig in for lunch, its quite an operation i´ll tell ya getting all the stuff together but i think we´ve got it down to a fine art!
Anyway i shall keep you updated at the next chance i get. Prob after the infamous trek.
Hope everyone is well (oh yeah and extremely jealous ha ha!)
I´ve put some picture on for you enjoyment.

This is just the beginning
It's so exciting to hear about other people's adventures and see the photos shortly after the experience. This is certainly the era of "instant gratification"...looking forward to hearing more about your travels and seeing the sites from our armchairs...
