Sorry, this is a long one and it has almost 100 photos. The internet connection in Iquitos was killing me. We're finally in Lima and leave for the airport in about 5 hours so this will be my only post tonight. This is about the trip to Chipe. I left out the photos of Kusu Chigamai. I'll get them up next. We left Chiclayo for Iquitos Tuesday morning and then we head back to Lima Thursday afternoon.... Read Full Entry

We had our own building where they had built bamboo beds about 2 ft off the floor.Mosquito nets and foam mats were added to make it almost comfortable.

Before we took off for a short visit to Chigamai they wanted to feed us. Bananas (I think they were cooked in leaves), yuca (a recurring theme) and chicken soup.

They have a volleyball court right in front of the church. Just when they were goofing around it was obvious they take their volleyball seriously

It was interseting to hear them call out names (and usually laugh) as they saw young versions of some of the old timers

The village does not have electricity but it does have a generator. It was temporarily relocated to run the projector
