The road along Lake Buenos Aires

very narrow, very steep,
So here we are, driving on this one lane dirt road......through spectacular scenery......along Lake Buenos Aires which is a huge lake.

The road is very narrow and at times hangs over long, long drop offs to the lake below, and ocassionally there are cars and trucks and busses coming the other way.

Our driver decided to take the route because it is very scenic, and he had never been this way before.

At one point we were confronted with a tree that had fallen across the road, so with our onboard axe and some help from other travelers, we cut away the tree and went on.

It is raining and wet, and this section of road is not only narrow but it is under construction, so every now and then we have to drive over a bridge that is being built, or around a bridge that isn't quite finished yet, or one which has washed out and has been bypassed.

And so with a sickening lurch and a huge tip to the left, we are stuck as our driver attempts to drive around yet another bridge which is not quite finished.

The left wheels is

firmly sunken into the soft rock and mud, and the rear fender is bogged down in large rocks. Under the truck is a large tree section, probably put there to provide some traction for another truck. Didn't work for ours.

Fortunately, the crew working on the bridge have a large bucket loader. So after an hour or so of some of the boys on the truck digging in the rain, we are pulled out and are on our way again.
