After my tour to La Junta, I went - like promised - to Llanquihue to visit my new friends Rosa, Javier and their son Joachim Vargas. I arrived at the right bus station but unfortunately couldn't remember which street it was, so walked around the streets for half an hour asking everybody if they knew my friends. These people where mostly from Santiago just visiting their family and didn't know anybody in the neighbourhood but one family was really kind and called Rosa and sent her some Whatsapp messages since I had no wifi, but Rosa was no to be reached... At some point I put on my (expensive) internet and sent her a whatsapp that I'm waiting for her at the lagoon. Half an hour later she finally got the message (she had problems with her phone) and came to pick me up. They live in the only street I hadn't taken before... :S Rosa's aunt, her husband and her uncle were there too, visiting from Santiago on their way to Chiloé. We had a very nice evening with good food and talking about everything and nothing. The next day Rosa's family left and around 10 AM, Rosa,
Joachim and me left too. We spent the day driving around the Llanquihue lake and visiting different places : the beautiful green lagoon in el Parque Nacional Vicent Pérez Rosales, the impressive waterfall in Las Cascadas, Puerto Octay and Frutillar where we had fresh juice, cake and where we visited the beach and the artisanal market.
It was a very nice day and I'm happy I could soent more time with my new friends! After diner Rosa brought me to the bus station and I left them with the promise to visit them the next time I'm in Chile.
Unfortunately I was too late for the last bus to the airport and so I had to take a taxi but never mind. The airport of Puerto Montt is quite small and it was easy to get around. When I wanted to pass the security check, they told me that there was a problem : I firgot to put my swiss knife in my bagpack and couldn't get it in my handluggage... But there were few people and the officers were very nice and told me to go back to the luggage drop-off and ask to put it in my bagpack. The
girl working there was very kind and said she would put it in my bagpack since I couldn't get my bag back. Sooo kind the chilean people, I love that! :-D
That's how I left Puerto Montt, spending the night at the airport in Santiago to take a plane to Buenos Aires and from there to El Calafate. The most stupid thing ever : el Calafate is just a few thousand kilometers from Puerto Montt but there are no direct connectiins and you have to cross the whole continent to get from one place to the other...
