So this morning it wasup at 7.30am and cinita (fenix my CS host) said goodbye and headed to work and her partner Renato chasedme and Dave up to get ready to go out as he was running late for work.
So just before 8am me and dave headed to a local cafe for toast and coffee for brekkie and then meand dave chatted and then headed to the other side of town to get his visa sorted as he is a US citzien and needs a visa.
We suggested meeting later and he said he would try and makeit back and to meet at a church on the corner of Bella Cinata Rua between 12.30 and 1pm, i then headed to mapsi were lonely planet says the is a tourist information centre and i headed downand could not spotit and tried some bad portugeuse and he spokesome english and so he said he would try and help and he tookme to where the tourist information centre is and it is closed, which was a great start.
He then asked what i needed from the toursit centre and i said the address for american airlines on paulista avenue and so
he said he would walk with me and try and find it and sowe spent another 40 mins trying to find it and he kept askingpeople were it was and eventually we found it and it was close to the turn off for my hosts street and so if i had known were it was it could have been quite easy. I thanked him for his help and changedmy ticket withthe friendly american airlines lady and i have changed it to the 30th March which gives me 3 days in Rio and gets me out of Brazil sooner,it turns out Brazill is up there with Russia and China as a rising economy and so that will explain how come its not cheap.
Paulista av is the main drag through the newer part of the city and is very flash and full of banks and expensive,i headed to a near by park and then the Mapsi art gallery and looked over various art from Italian renasiance to modern art and photography by a japanese artist.
I then looked over a photo exhibition in a gallery in a mall and then i headed to Se via the metro to look
at the cathdral and had a cheese pasty type thing and some water from a cafe nearby as it is in the old town and is cheaper. I then headed to a local park and saw what looked like a drug bust in progress and then i visted the muncipal theatre musuem and had a wander round and i then went to japan town and ididnot hear a word of japanese so they must all speak the local lingo now.
Portugeuse seems a very hard language and unlike any other latin language and although im no spanish expert, however i did have a generalidea what they were saying, hear in Brazilthey may aswellbe speaking flemish.
I then got the metro back at Libetard and headed to the parkand readmy lonely planet forawhile as i couldnot get into the flat until 7pm or 7.30pm and so i headed to abook shop and killed time. I got backto flat when it turned dark and Renato was in,im dreading having 12 hours or more to kill tomorrow.
So i decided to see about getting to Rio tomorrow and the airline Tam wouldnt take my credit card, damn Brazilian bullshit.....lol, i looked at
bus´s and decided to get the bus the next day and i checked out hostels and the cheapest one is in Copacabana beach and is 24 bed dorms jeezzzzzz.
So i booked the hostel, i had a couchsurfing offer and to be honest i did not want the same as Sao paulo trying to amuse myself for 12 hours and no were to go and plus you meet more people in hostels and i may couchsurf again in Peru and Aussie, but some more hostels although they cost seem a prudent idea.
I told renato and cintia and they were ok with it and we had some chocolate and some vodka and beer and watched TV so it was a cheap night in...lol, dave went out and then woke me up when he came in at 3am....jeezzz when i finish this trip im going to sleep for a week....proper sleep aswelll......lol.
