I Heart Rio!

I'd always wanted to visit Rio, and indeed me and my better half had long ago added it to our must-see destination list when an incredible opportunity came up that took us both there. While she was in meetings, I spent time exploring the neighbourhoods and getting acquainted with a few of Rio's infamous beaches — where the sand is like brown sugar and the caipirinhas and Brahma flow easily.

In addition to the vibrant street and neighbourhood life in and around Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, one observation that truly fascinated us both were the stalwart Cariocas, out playing beach football until the wee hours, then busy exercising beach-side at the crack of dawn.

In only 10 days, with limited time, we barely scratched the surface of this exotic city and country. Suffice it to say, with a five-year traveller’s visa, a return visit is definitely in order.
