So we reached Rio after a 13 hr flight on a plane.
Best part was taking the local bus ( a better version of a matatu 4 all kenyans) to the Hostel
No matter what everyone thinks Mohini ( Moo) and I have a really good sense of direction!
Checked into the hostel - Trip Hostel in Santa Terra.
The hostel is gorgeous - we have large room - wooden carved doors - power shower - hammock just outside our room - ahhhh! See pics
As soon as we had a shower - manager ( Young man - 25) drove us to Ipanema beech with his friends and Moo and I got to .... well .... had to ...wear bikini which was an experience itself.
Manager is an Engineering graduate and talks amazing english - and took us and to young hip spot on Ipanema - where we slashed through the waves and sat on a golden beach...
Went out for a meal in Santa Terresa - lovely place we staying at - cobble floors - trams running every where - so cultural...
And had an early night as we had to get up at 330am this morning. Moos dad will be proud to hear the next bit. So we wake up this morning - make our packed lunch - get ready and wait outside for the pre booked taxi all happy that we made it in time
Then - somehow - i think it is too light to be that early so moo goes to check the time - turns out - we have been reading the wrong time on her mobile and so set the wrong time on the alarm and really it was 630 am!
So here we are - missed our bus and ferry to Ilha Grande (small islang frm Rio) and are planning the day ahead!
First on the list - buy a watch!!

sonal mooooo! good to hear you guys are doing so well even with your mobile phones which now standardly have a great multifuntioncal menu which should help you with times/dates etc... even the nokia 3330 has many functions that im sure would help u whilst you are both galavanting across the other side of the world!! in any case - yes i also think an analogue watch would be best... for obvious reasons! sonal - a bikini??? haiii haiiii!!!! why did u HAVE to?! was it cos the young man of 25 was gorgeous? i wont tell p.. hehe!!! ok im off - back to reality which is work in this really dull grey wet whether while u lot do whatever it is ur doing in bikinis and hammocks! mwah.. cant wait to c more pix!! :) amal xxx
