bemvindo a brasil
OOOOhhhh BRASIL ...beleza
rhythm, colour, curves ..life here is sumptuous like the corpo dorado.
I would mention the women but the guilotine might fall upon me and there is
far more fruitier things here than fake boobs and thongs...yes thats right
nature is more powerful than silicone..(brazil is ahead of the usa in that dept)
Yes I have fallen in love with the fruit here, lets start with A! acai-
if you havent heard of it then you should know its tasty ike chocolate -rasberry
and more healthy than ginseng and evangelical christianity put together ..
its my daily drink coupled with honey granola and banana!
right , im not gonna do the whole alphabet as am on a bus
leaving Sao Paulo and the favelas are distracting me but just to say , the fruits
are so alive with flavour, limes scream green , maracuja juice leads you into the
secret forbidden garden of passion..-just about everything is an aphrodisiac here!!!
and then there are the women...
Christmas was spent on the emerald coast where mountainous-atlantic tropical
forest falls into the sea , a secluded town called trinidade where paradise reigns
with a little touch of home in the formidable gringo hostal run by George , a free
spirit whom has swapped his Chester home for a brazilian jungle retreat, the only give
away to his identity; blue eyes blond hair. Having explored the waterfalls on the 25th
we barbecued on the beach with a crazy german & brazilian, large busted argentinian, bourgois french and played beach games before cooling off. A day/night to remember.
Moving on to Rio de Janeiro for NY celebrations! 2 million people on copacabana beach
dressed in white drinking caipirinhas and dancing to live samba wrapped up with a firework display requiring 5 tankers set out in the bay.... big bang boom. The tradition is to throw flowers into the sea and swim 7 waves but to be frank , it was the only place one could relieve oneself. We danced all night on the sand , smoked a cigar, made a few pointless wishes and strolled home at dawn to our Rio hostal where a little swimming pool with a view over the city brought the night to a close.
I have to say, the two of us did not make the most of rio, it rained a lot....so much so
mud slides caused over 60 deaths in the local area..! On a more fortunate note , we made it tothe top of corcovado where Christ the redeemer stands proud at 700metres up with the best view of any site on earth apart from the hundreds of tourists. .. then the rain came.. you could see the angry cloud coming and everything went blank! no more nice photos.
just helicopters flying around avoiding the dense cloud. Rio is surrounded by helicopters especially Jesus himself then there are the police
ones. Favelas are everywhere, some luxurious with more lights than a xmas tree, others less
equipped. Met a Dutch guy who visited the favelas everyday , trying to sell a story back home.
Met the national geographical team whilst in a samba bar - we could be in the next edition !!
I was wearing my samba shorts red, green, black- very cool but then there were girls wearing
virtually nothing with stelettos to match essex girls.. finally feel at home !
The samba bars are oozinggggggg with happiness, people know the words to the songs, everybody dances
and its "just my beach" as they say here(cup of tea) which reflects the 8000km of coast line.
... yes fannette and I have been showing the brazilians how to do it french style!
fannette dances like brigite bardot sending the percussionist into a frenzied rhythm
We have been staying with a wonderfuly colourful Cali born colombian pyschologist named LUZ in a
middle class neighbourhood. Her appartment resembles a Frida Khalo exhibition
and has art work hanging from everywall, earthy native designs and tropical colours.
Tea time here is replaced with caipirinha time ..round about 7pm.we cook -eat then dance colombian style.
Well I think I have brought you uptodate as we make our way to see fannette's great Aunt in the coffee/orchid
plantations north of sao paulo. Will be heading up north in a few days to Recife to check out the coral life
and the pre-carnaval preperations!! Boa tarde from a cometa bus listening to toquino and vinicius
de Moraes
check out - bezerra da silva
