Couldn’t go to the top. Sadness...
When the sun finally came out it was hot as, so I set off along Cordoba for the Flag Memorial. The shops looked much more appealing in the sunshine. There was a queue again at the McDonalds dessert window. Their ice cream must be super cheap! When I got to the FM the big flag was flying today and I have to say, it was a wondrous sight against the blue sky. I felt quite patriotic myself! But no chance of going up the big tower in the lift, all closed up for renovations. So I went over the delightful blue and white zebra crossing to the boat ticket office. It looked very much like it had done last week. Closed. No sign of the boat either. The sign read only Saturday, Sunday and fiestas. I’m choosing to blame the Beatles, not the fact that although I’d taken a photo of the said ticket office and posted it, I hadn’t completely read the feckin sign, as they say in Ireland. I saw 2.30, not the days! Skills, innit!

Despite this I had a great time.

Nothing else for it, I walked along the river to the silos, the art

The big big flag was flying
museum where I went for lunch yesterday. It was a delight. The first part (after sloshing through fish guts again) was through the park where they were setting up huge marquees and bars for some kind of technology event. Not so interesting. It got much better after the skate park. I went up the huge flight of stairs and the park was much nicer from then on. There were really nice bars and restaurants. The ones on the bank of the river meant going down a lift. They looked like they were part of fishing clubs. It would be pretty at night but I’m not sure I would go on my own, even by taxi. There would be a dark wall through the park to get there.

Argentinians are fab in public. They show affection (they clearly like each other a lot, especially the young couples), breast feed, it makes for a really relaxed atmosphere. I’ve seen girls and boys with their arms round each other. There is a rainbow area dedicated to diversity and a pioneer of gay/trans rights, who died in 2015. It was heartening to see this tribute. A boat did come along, but not my boat. I had a moment when I thought I should yomp back to the boat station but it was full of hooting and hollering school kids. We waved at each other.

Further along the bank looks dodgy and has warning signs. Does this deter the adventurous Argentinians? Not at all! They picnic on the wrong side of the tracks, park scooters and grow vegetables. There was a little box on a stick. A lady stopped by it and unloaded books from her bag into it. The sign said mini library. The guy you can partly see in my photo asked the lady if you have to put books in before you can take any out. No, she said, she has too many, she’s just happy if someone can make use of them. She wandered off and left him browsing.

When I got to the silos I headed away from the river and there was a bar called Station with some tables outside in the shade, so I stopped for a homemade lemonade and fruit salad. Then I walked back along Bvd Oroño (averting eyes at the Beatle place) and Calle Salta, again much more interesting than San Lorenzo. For dinner I went back to Tiendas Naturales. Just made happy hour (5.30-8) and had aperol spritzX2 and a Camembert salad, 20% off on Mondays, so a total of 360ps. It was so nice sitting there, seeing people coming and being happy meeting their friends, and women on their own. A great vibe!
