The falls
A shot from the Brazilian side.. We took a flight to Foz de Iguazu, a little town on the border of Brazil. We only stayed the one night there and the reason was for the Iguazu falls. The falls are in between the borders of Argentina and Brazil so it is a good crossing over point. The first day, we saw the falls from the Brazil side which we were told was the less spectacular side. When we arrived, me and David couldnt believe it. We imagined that the falls were jst one huge waterfall but they were actually dozens of gigantic waterfalls pouring over from all sides into a huge river! The waterfall system consists of about 270 falls along 2.7 kilometres of the Iguazu River. Some of the individual falls are up to 82 metres in height, though the majority are about 64 metres. The Garganta del Diablo or Devil's Throat was absolutely amazing. It is U - shaped were the falls are flowing in from all three sides and is about 150 metres wide. The have built walkways so as you can walk right out into the falls so as they are crashing down behind you and then flowing beneath you and me and

Masses of water... David got absolutely drenched! we were soaking and freezing as it is autumn here.
The following day, we went to see the Argentinian side of the falls which are meant to be even better. Here, we were able to walk right over the top of the falls which meant we were closer but we didnt think the views were better than the Brazilian side. Ofcourse, the one time in our lives when we are going to be able to see the falls, the Argentinians closed their access to the Devils Throat which is supposed to be the best view but ah well! We were pretty impressed with it from the Brazilian side and dont see how it could be any better than it was.
Left Iguazzu and suffered a 19 hour bus ride to Buenos Aires which actually wasnt that bad. (The price included dinner and champagne in a fancy restaurant - pretty random for a bus journey!) The first thing we realised when we arrived was that the clothes here are dirt cheap.....so we have dumped everything tht we had out of our rucksacks and have stocked up with new clothes...lets face it...looking bk at some of

The "devils throat"... our photos, we look like two homeless people!
Beunos aires was class....weve had such a good time here, plenty to do and see, lots of good steaks and red wine (for 5 quid) and good nightlife. It has been the most modern city that we have been to since we started out travelling along with Rio (but Argentinas cheaper so Buenos Aires wins in my book) Spent most days doing a bit of sightseeing, checked out Evitas gaff and a few of the areas near the centre of town. Went to the famous La Boca which is supposed to be full of streets with loads of really bright coloured houses but is actually jst one street with houses painted in bright colours. Went to the zoo which was class and thats coming from a person that hates zoos. Loads of massive reptiles that Ive never seen before in my life, snakes, tortoises which were humungus...i never knew that they were that big and rhinos, hippos, bears and kangaroos. The hippo was massive...its head was about the same size as me and david put together...we couldnt believe it and its teeth lookind like huge, thick tusks! Was definitely worth a

the platform overlooking the devils throat...absolute madness dander around ..
Managed to also catch an Irish international rugby match against Argentina while we were here...and David was glad to meet up with some of his friends from home...It was a disappointing game as we were badly beaten but the atmosphere was good! The Argntinians are hard to listen to as they are so passionate especially when you are being beaten....bring on the world cup! The stadium announcer was constantly singing the Argentinian national anthem and roaring Vamos Argentina down the microphone and telling the crowd to jump up and down in the stands and to sing Argentinian songs!!! What is that all about???
We are off tomorrow to the end of the earth..to the antarctic for icebergs, skiing, and husky sledging so its going to be freezing!
keep all the messages coming everyone at home and hope all is well with you all,
love David and Jenni x x
