Arrived from London via Sao Paolo. Slept all the way so the flight went quick. This city is much bigger and busier than I thought. The taxi from the airport drove through some very poor areas on the way to our apartment...makes Redfern look pretty classy. Our place is in an area called Abasto which used to be known for shady tango bars and cocain use in the 80's but has been cleaned up in the last 10 years starting with the redevelopment of the old Abasto wholesalers market building into another depressing American style shopping mall. At least they kept part of the old exterior of the building which is really cool.
