BA in Winter
Palermo Parks It's been quite sometime since I updated my travel blogs. I just never seem to find time to write. Time zooms by so quickly in Argentina.
Katharine and I have been doing loads, experiencing many first's, meeting new friends, saying goodbye to old ones and spending great times with family and friends from home that paid us a visit during winter.
Winter knocked at our doors almost immediately after I arrived in Buenos Aires which was in early May this year. It started getting really cold between July and August, the coldest months in Buenos Aires.
Coming from Malaysia, a tropical haven for the sun tanning society, it was my first time experiencing a full winter ever, what more when it turned out to be what most "porteno's" (locals) claimed, the coldest winter in over 40 years for Buenos Aires! Lucky me eh?
Winter felt like a novelty to me, and just like a Christmas morning, I unwrapped everyday with excitement, cold but somewhat thrilled to bits with this new scene and experience. But it did too cold for comfort some days....burrrr

Snow in Buenos Aires on July 9th ...first time in 90 years! Picture taken from our flat balcony.... includes:
....moving into a bigger flat in a nice neighbourhood. Our flat was fully furnished with a 29inch TV and had a great kitchen, living area and lots of light. It was impetus for me to cook loads of Malaysian food over the next 6 months.
We got to see snow in Buenos Aires for a few hours on the 9th July which was a historic moment for many as it was the first time it snowed in this city over 90 years!
Met Katharine's parents who came over to BA for a three week holiday from Aberdeen.
They came bearing loads of gifts, a gigantic jar of marmite(our favourite), bags of english tea and stacks of english papers and magazines which we missed so desperately! We had such a great time with them (Mandy and Dick) and felt that the 3 weeks flew past too quickly.
Got really sloshed at Katharine, Emily and Anne Marie's bi-annual party.
Took art lessons and dabbled a little of painting at home with Katharine.
Was invited by the Malaysian Embassy to celebrate the King of Malaysia's birthday at the embassy and another luncheon at the Sheraton hotel

Cold day at the Ecological Park by the docks celebrating Malaysia's 50th National day.
Most days saw us trying out various food and local haunts, drinking and tasting all kinds of Malbec, spending time with friends, family or just wandering around the city, visiting art museums and walking in the parks...
