WTF??? ...

... a couple of hours away from Belgrade, our driver pulled over where there was another van waiting with passengers that were heading the other way to Sarajevo. We all switched vans and also switched our luggage over, never understanding exactly why. It would have made some sense had the drivers simply switched seats, because then both drivers could have gone back home for the evening. But simply switching the contents didn't seem to make any sense at all, and we all joked that there must have been some illegal smuggling involved. When one of our fellow passengers, a Serbian, asked why we had switched, she was simply told "we switched because we switched" ... OK ...
