A close-up of one of these neat flowers. Most, like this one, had a large white flower, fully open, with a smaller pink flower that was not fully open at this time of day (around 9:00 AM).
Capitol Reef National Park April 30th 2015 Geo: 38.2989, -111.418On Thursday we drove up highway 12 to Torrey, Utah, and highway 24 on into Capitol Reef NP. We checked out the visitor center and then hiked about 2.5 miles into the Cohab Canyon and then about 2 miles along a ridge top on the Frying Pan trail. Anne and I started our hiking trips back in 2001 and have managed to get two or three trips in each year since. Most of the trips were part of our quest to hike in all of the US National Parks, a quest we completed in 2015 with our trip to Alaska and the Gates of the Arctic and Kobuk Valley parks. At that time there were 59 parks. Since 2015 we have revisited some of our favorite areas and those have been blogged as well.
