Shanghai was a great place to kick-start our big trip. It's China's fastest-growing city filled with old European charms, as in Europe meets the Orient. Lots of old stone buildings, without the neon overkill. Nice parks and pedestrian areas for an afternoon stroll. Garbage cans are everywhere (take note, Korea!). People speak pretty good English.
